There's more evidence that "bariatric surgery" works much better than dieting and exercise to reverse Type 2 diabetes in people with mild-to-moderate obesity. Researchers compared a group of patients who had stomach-stapling surgery with another group enrolled in a nutrition and exercise program. After one year, 60 percent of the surgery group had complete remission of their diabetes.
